it’s heartbreaking to see your closest friends from elementary school on facebook and all of their lives have pretty much flamed out. one has a kid now, and the other three’s lives have pretty much stalled. i miss the old days, back when all of us had unlimited potential and nothing to stop us.

Confessions
I love television, but I’ve been unable to focus on ratings and industry movements lately. Honestly, they’ve become just so uninteresting this and last season. I don’t know what happened, but I think new shows just stopped grabbing my attention, and I’m not better for it. Also, the insane proliferation of television “networks” has ruined the “specialness” of a show making it to the ready-to-air stage. Oh, your show is airing now? Great, so are 100 other shows on Thursday at 9:30. You all know I hate sarcasm, but Jesus, I’m not even interested in shows like the Office or Modern Family anymore. Instead, I watch adult swim shows. And I don’t like that. What happened to the days where I’d watch a comedy simply because it was on NBC, and I had enough faith in NBC’s acumen with comedies? Or AMC and dramas? Or FX and dramas? Now, NBC has to compete not only with FX, AMC and HBO, but Netflix and Amazon Prime, too. Websites! National networks that have been broadcasting since the early fifties are seeing their ratings plummet to internet companies! What’s even more crazy is that the internet companies are succeeding at this! (well, to some extent). Surely, more people watch House of Cards than those who watch Hannibal. That’s the society we live in today. And I honestly don’t like it, no matter how good House of Cards is. (I’d contend that it could’ve done just fine in its current form on HBO, but that’s neither here nor there.
I love Kanye West more than almost any other human being.

Why can’t I hug other men or express relentless positivity without it coming off as strange or “uncool”? I hate that so much.
